So what is The Cloud anyway? Why should you care about “The Cloud”?
The Cloud is just a metaphor for the Internet. It is the latest catch phrase or marketing term for accessing and storing data over the Internet.
The notion of network based computing has been around since the 1960’s but most people credit Google for the first use of the term “Cloud Computing” back in 2006.
Regardless, why should anyone really care?
Goliath companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, etc.. are all heavily focused on marketing their version of The Cloud to big businesses with big checkbooks.
That’s because these big boys and girls know how to market, what marketing terms sell, and where the big bucks are.
So the question is, if these huge companies are investing into marketing the Cloud, what about the small players?
